Two Weddings, One Venue, and A Tired Angie

What a week! Phew!

Going from sitting at a desk for eight hours a day, to working on a farm and being on your feet all the livelong day, is tiring! Coupled with having one day off, and working three different jobs in the week put me into a trance of exhaustion.

I made it through, though! It's Monday (my day off) and I finally feel rested and recharged.

This last week was full of so much fun on the farm and two lovely weddings at the same venue! So random! We had a Saturday wedding at the Webb Barn in Wallingford, CT, and a Sunday morning wedding also at the Webb Barn.

One of the highlights of the week was going to a dahlia farm about 20 minutes away. So close! There were so many beautiful dahlia varieties - it was pure heaven. Haley even let us pick out a bouquet of our own and wouldn't ya know, I essentially picked my wedding color palette.

Later on in the week, we harvested flowers for both weddings, and on Friday made all table centerpieces for both as well. I worked closely with Kate (our full-time flower farmer of the season) to arrange 60 bud vases for the first wedding, and 60 small arrangements (just a bit fuller and bigger than the bud vases) for the second wedding.

We had a blast and time flew as we worked in the Eddy Farm milk room all day Friday. It's always nice to have those days on the farm when you aren't working in the fields, but designing and chit-chatting with coworkers.

Saturday morning I came in early again to help Haley with the personals for each wedding. I made 9 boutonnieres and 2 corsages, along with 4 bridesmaid bouquets. Of course I failed on taking pictures of most of them, but did grab some pics of my favorite bouquet of the morning.

Around 1pm we headed over to the Webb Barn to install the first wedding of the weekend. It was a fairly simple set-up: 3 bud vases per table and dropping off the bouquets, boutonniere's and corsages so the wedding party knew where to find them.

First wedding done!

Sunday I came back to the farm early for an 8am set-up time back at the Webb Barn. The set-up here was once again 3 arrangements per table and an archway. Haley and I busted it out in time for her to change and enjoy the wedding, since friends of hers were getting married.

And finally at 10:30am, I found myself home and ready to enjoy the rest of the day Sunday, and today (Monday), off from a full week of flower farming and designing.

To be honest, it was weird not going to the office on Monday. I thought about what my old coworkers were doing, and what I would be doing had I not made the decision to leave. I wasn't sad, but merely reflective. This is quite the change of career, and I know mentally and physically, it will take some getting used to.

I am so happy though. I know this is the right path for me and even though I am exhausted, I've been having a blast. With that said, I'm excited to see what October brings - although I did pull a Three of Swords as my Tarot card pull for the month. Ah! Guess we'll have to stay optimistic about that one and just hope it is merely a sign of the hard work and struggle that changing careers and jobs can entail. I guess we will see!

xx,

Angie
